ISO is an international organisation that creates global standards. There are technical standards and management systems standards. The most popular management systems standards are ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System), ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental management System) and ISO 45001:2018 (Health & Safety Management System)
Any organisation may be certified by having evidence that they comply with the clauses of the relevant standard. Certification can only be done by accredited certification bodies. To be certified you should have
-A documented system (which includes mapped processes or work methods and templates)
-There must be evidence that you are using the documented system
-You must have had at least one internal audit and one management review meeting
To have a certification audit, there needs to be at least 3 months of records available for the auditor to look at. If starting from scratch, it will therefore take a minim of 6 months before you can have a certification audit
The cost will depend on the size and complexity of your organisation. The certification body will calculate the quote in accordance with the number of employees in your organisation.
